Jan’s journey into the tech world has been largely motivated by his lifelong obsession of figuring out what makes people tick. Spending most of his professional career in the media business he studied the impact of content, visual and auditory signals on viewers and the social phenomena that comes along with it. Questions like: “Why and how do people fall in love with film characters?”, “Why do shows like Big Brother make our heads turn?”, “How can we predict the next big hit amongst the public?”
Within Mindsmiths Jan and his team are working to employ humanistic sciences such as psychology and sociology to develop AI systems that have the ability to develop and maintain relationships with people in order to better their lives.
Jan is an active advocate for the popularization of the field of AI as one that is very inclusive and isn’t restricted to engineers and data scientists but desperately needs the involvement of humanistic experts and non-engineering talent.
