Luke is a entrepreneur with an academic background in quantum computing, machine learning, mathematical ecology and evolutionary systems.
Luke received a PhD in Physics for research work in quantum computing from Cambridge University. Held research fellowships at both Cambridge and Oxford Universities and a visiting researcher position at the Universidad Catholica de Chile. Won academic awards, including a Science and Engineering prize for the best work by a UK researcher under 35 years.
He now works as Director of AI venture builder Post Urban Ventures, Chief Scientist of AI privacy startup Hazy and Chief Scientist of Zagreb-based AI-to-AI communications company LGN. He is a founder member of the Bessemer Society, a member of the Brain Mind Forum and is currently creating a new masters course in AI ethics with the New College of the Humanities in London.
Synth-ethics — An exploration of the ethics of AI
Luke will explore an illustrate a range of ethical issues with AI, from classical AI ethics, such as bias in training data and privacy issues around data sourcing and management, to the future of artifical general intelliegnce and the potential for artifical consciousness and sentient artificial beings.
His talk is also being followed up with a one-day “Synth-ethics” workshop hosted at the University of Zagreb, Department of electronics, microelectronics, computer and intelligent systems on Saturday 12th August.
