Anja Barešić is a researcher and Head of Laboratory for Computational Biology and Translational Medicine at the Ruđer Bošković Institute. Anja holds an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from University of Zagreb and PhD degree in Bioinformatics from University College London. With over 15 years of experience in data science, machine learning and bioinformatics, her scientific focus is on research of the human genome in the context of genetic diseases. From 2023, Anja is coordinator of AI4Health.Cro, European Digital Innovation Hub focusing on facilitating AI-driven innovation entering healthcare in Croatia and beyond. This public-private partnership consisting of 16 institutions has so far reached a few dozen start-ups and SMEs and helped them achieve personalized digital transformation.
European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) is focused on AI applications in smart healthcare. The Hub serves as a one-stop shop for SMEs, start-ups and other organisation interested in digital transformation or developing innovative AI solutions with applications in healthcare or medicine. Our vision is a European Union that looks back in 20 years and is proud of its decision to develop and apply AI solutions to transform healthcare – for patients, for doctors and for innovators.
