Chris is His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner to Europe, leading a team from the UK’s Department for International Trade based in 34 countries to encourage trade and investment between UK and Europe. He has been a UK civil servant since 1998, with leading roles in trade, energy, business regulation, EU and international affairs in departments for business (BIS/DTI), foreign affairs (FCO), energy (DECC), trade (DIT) & No10.
From 1993-1998 he was an Economics & Business Studies teacher, having studied Economics at Durham University (1989-1992) and teacher training (PGCE) at York University (1992-1993).
